Summary

I love how it can be used with third party storage and backup and how it has a commitment to open source itself if it ever fails as a product. That gives it long term viability as a way to continue Building A Second Brain compared to the risk that Notion will one day shut down and the system I have developed will be lost or corrupted.

However, while Obsidian looks to work brilliantly as a potential backup for my LifeOS (Life Operating System) should Notion ever fail me, I do not plan to switch until I am forced.

‣ and stick with what you know

Update: November 14, 2022

I have spent some time today setting up Obsidian to use as my second brain. It has great advantages, but the advantage of having my online and Working with the door open mean that despite Obsidian’s advantages, I should probably stick with Notion.

I have this damn debate time and again and every time.
