A Life Operating System is an organisational system that functions to outsource elements of the organisation of life in such a way that they become automated and therefore require as little mental energy as possible to run. It functions as the core of my project of Building A Second Brain.

It allows me to be Running on Autopilot for most of the week, by removing friction points where my ideas and work are unconnected or where I might otherwise need to learn a new system or technology in order to accomplish a task.

As much as possible, I try to use my LOS for tasks and projects. This way, I do not have to become 'expert' in more systems, which would take additional effort and energy.

However, I have found most value from my , and ‣ (journal) along with its #Weekly review and connected databases. Day to day planning takes place mostly in Google Tasks and Google Calendar.

The process of optimising this operating system is something that should happen as part of the #Weekly review, but only on a maintenance level. Significant redevelopment of the LOS should be an annual or biannual event. The rest of the time the system should work as something on autopilot.

The intention of the LOS is not to have an LOS, but to make the things that happen in life easier to organise and maintain.

It should make the ‣ of life easier.

Systems of the LOS

Structure

My LOS is a collection of siloed databases. Many of these databases have links and relationships but each database acts as a container for a specific type of note.

Areas

There are areas of the LOS in which everything happens.

My main areas are as follows:

There are also various other areas with their own niche purposes developed on an ad hoc basis.
